Let's get it started!
I have to admit that the idea to write a blog was somewhere deep in my mind many years ago, but at the same time I couldn't convince myself why could I do this.
But here we go..as a member of INTEREG Focus project, I participe in Open Network Courses with a code name ONL172. One of the tasks is to write a blog about Topic 1 - Online participation and digital literacies.
I was always considering myself as digitally literate person. After the webinar and readings about digital literacy I understood that digital literacies are made of so many different elements, that I've never thought about. Very important thing is to have motivation and curiosity that drives our development in all senses.
Once I had an interesting conversation with my friend about using social networks. I use only Facebook (Google+ and Twitter is used just for the ONL172 courses). So we came up with a conclusion that we are not using other social media websites because it's very time consuming to manage several of them and not because we wouldn't know how to use them or that we wouldn't understand the purpose why people are using them. In case of social networks I think it's important to find the right balance that suits for our needs.
However I found out that websites like Google+ or Padlet could be very interesting tools to enhance learning experience for students. I hope to learn many more things during the course and I've already learned so many of them. The world is becoming more and more digital so I am sure this course will be useful for my career and personal development. Digital literacy is becoming extremely important competitive advantage in contemporary life.
